Heaven Bound at BCAC This Saturday, September 23 @ 7 p.m.
Heaven Bound, a group of six local Country Gospel Musicians, will be in concert at the Basin City Arts Center Saturday, September 23 at 7 p.m.  The concert in free and open to the public with donations to the BCAC appreciated.  Musicians include Ashley Dern, Alesha Dern, Don Weeks, Doris Todd, Dave Todd and Carole Blakeman. The band does Country Gospel, Old Country, and Bluegrass Music.  Some of their newer songs include Surely Goodness and Mercy Follow written by Alesha Dern and performed by Ashley and Alesha Dern, Redemption, Never Grow Old, Satan’s Jeweled Crown, and Cryin’ Holy.  About the band Carole says, “We have tons of fun with our music and practices, and enjoy bringing ‘musical happiness’ to others.  We share a great love of Country Gospel Music within the band.  There is lots of variety with duets, trios, various small groups and solos within the band group.  Some songs are instrumental while others are vocals.  Instruments include 2  12-string guitars, 2   6-string guitars, bass guitar, mandolin, and accordion in many and varied combinations.”
Heaven Bound organized in June 2009 when the choir director at Basin First Baptist suggested that the community needed some small musical groups for the summer.  He asked Carole to put together a Country Gospel Group and the “rest is history”!!  They have played for the Big Horn County Fair each summer since 2009, Shell Community Church, Presbyterian Gospel Music Round-up in 2015, the 2010 Greybull All-School Reunion, Wyoming Festival in Thermopolis, First Baptist Church in Buffalo, WY, Bonnie Bluejacket Nursing Home, and the Basin Bike Rodeo.   They play many other gigs as they are asked.  Each member brings in new songs; then they decide how they want it to sound and work toward that end.  Practice is one evening each week most of the year taking time off around Christmas.  Adding new songs each year, Heaven Bound has a huge repertoire of music from which to draw.
